Reading Ambassadors

Books have the power to shape and influence your knowledge and understanding, excite and inspire you, evoke emotion and allow you to make deep connections with characters that help you to find your space in the world. By embedding a culture of Reading for Pleasure within our school, we aim for children to leave Cranford Park Academy as confident and resilient individuals.

Our Reading Ambassadors play a key role in this, by promoting a love of reading and supporting others with their reading. They have been chosen as they consistently demonstrate their willingness to share this passion for reading with others and enthusiasm to promote reading throughout the school.

The Reading Ambassadors support their class by checking they are selecting a book appropriate for their ZPD, encouraging a love of reading by sharing their experience, and by supporting with quizzes. At the start of the year, they conducted a reading review in which they reviewed the selection of books in all the classrooms across the school. From their feedback, we purchased additional texts and further improved the Reading spaces in our classrooms for the children. They have also delivered a World Book Day assembly to their phase, in which they spoke about their favourite books and encouraged others to get reading. We also attended a special trip to The British Library, in which we had the chance to view the work of other authors and learn creating writing strategies!
